Snoop Dogg is taking Death Row’s music straight to the next frontier.
Gala Music and Death Row Records, purchased by Snoop in 2022, have revealed details about their exclusive tracks. The Dog Father has become a strong advocate for NFTs and Web3 space as the co-founder of Shiller and recently inked a significant partnership deal with Gamma.
Except for live streams like YouTube’s “Couchella,” live performance tracks exclusively on streaming platforms have been rare. New releases are now available across different platforms, benefiting paid subscribers across platforms, yet exclusive studio tracks continue to stream on streaming services.
Daz Dillinger and Kurupt, also known as the Dogg Pound, are gearing up to release a new album on all platforms on May 31. Gala Music premiered two tracks by the group, “Finesse” and “Baggin U Up.” With no ads or sign-ups required, these tracks feature Snoop Dogg and October London.
According to Gala pages, Snoop’s strong interest in NFTs seems to have led him to sell 100 tokens for each of these songs. Youngboy NBA, Jordin Sparks, and Snoop Dogg have all released singles on-platform after Snoop’s exclusives.
Leila Steinberg, Gala Music’s president, discussed the company’s vision for Web3 opportunities for artists. She expressed excitement about partnering with Death Row Records and Tha Dogg Pound for their first Web3 releases, emphasizing Gala Music’s commitment to guiding artists into the Web3 space.
NFT sales have slowed, and funding for music Web3 projects has decreased. However, there is still potential for Web3 projects to attract dedicated supporters, especially as the industry focuses on monetizing super fans.
Snoop Dogg had previously removed the Death Row Records catalog from major platforms. After partnering with Gamma, the catalog returned to platforms like Spotify.
Previously, Snoop and Death Row finalized a timed-exclusive agreement with TikTok.
