‘Number One On The Call Sheet’ Set To Premiere On Apple TV

Number One on the Call Sheet, a two-part docuseries that pays tribute to the contributions of Black leading men and women in Hollywood, is set to premiere on Apple TV.

According to the press release, “some of Hollywood’s biggest stars will reveal their journeys to game-changing leading roles” in depth interviews.

Reginald Hudlin directs the first installment which is dedicated to “Black Leading Men in Hollywood.” Part two, directed by Shola Lynch, focuses on “Black Leading Women in Hollywood.”

“The actors of now, we don’t get here without your Denzel [Washington]’s, your Morgan [Freeman]’s,” Kevin Hart says in the trailer. 

 “I am just an actor, I’m no different than you. But when you see me coming, stand back a little bit more,” Morgan Freeman replies.

In the doc, Denzel Washington, Eddie Murphy, Don Cheadle, Morris Chestnut, Ice Cube, Taye Diggs, Idris Elba, Laurence Fishburne, Jamie Foxx, Dwayne Johnson, Michael B. Jordan, and many more make appearances.

For the ladies, Angela Bassett, Halle Berry, Viola Davis, Whoopi Goldberg, Cynthia Erivo, Taraji P. Henson, Nia Long, Octavia Spencer, Tessa Thompson, Gabrielle Union, Alfre Woodard, and among those featured in the highly-anticipated documentary.

In a statement, Bassett shared the vision behind the doc.

“Number One on the Call Sheet’ celebrates the grit, strength and brilliance of those who came before us, while uplifting the next generation,” Bassett said. “ It’s an honor to pay homage to the legends, and shine a light on the limitless possibilities ahead for Black and brown talent.”

“Number One On The Call Sheet’ is the honest testimony of successful people who overcame all types of obstacles to make their dreams come true,” Hudlin added. “It doesn’t matter what business you’re in, learning about their mindset, their grit, their unique definitions of success will be inspirational to every viewer.  I can’t wait for the world to see it.”
