Sexyy Red has found herself in legal trouble after allegedly encouraging her social media followers to attack Nicole Barnes, the paternal grandmother of one of her children.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the lawsuit, filed Monday, March 24th, claims that the rapper, whose real name is Janae Wherry, urged her online followers to “kick in the door” of Barnes’ home and commit violent acts against her.
Barnes alleges that in December 2024, Red, 26, posted her address and a photo of her house on Facebook, then allegedly called on people to physically harm her. “Sexxy Red and her baby daddy are getting into beefs, for whatever reason, that have nothing to do with my client,” Barnes’ attorney, Steven Weaver, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Tuesday, March 25th.
Weaver said they initially tried to settle the matter privately, but Red’s legal team “thought it was a joke.” He added, “And now they’re finding out it’s not.” Barnes reported the alleged incident to the police at the time and has since been forced to move out of Hazelwood, Missouri, due to safety concerns.
In her lawsuit, Barnes claims she has struggled to find housing at a similar price and now lives in constant fear. As a result, she has started therapy for emotional distress. She is seeking $5 million in damages.
The “SkeeYee” rapper is a mother of two—a son born in 2020 and a daughter, whom she welcomed in February 2024. However, little is known about the fathers of her children.
