On Friday (Jan.17), Donald Trump’s supporters piled into the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C, to celebrate the President-elect before he heads to the Oval Office. Several entertainers attended the event, including Snoop Dogg. However, after clips of his performance at Trump’s “Crypto Ball,” were shared online he received an onslaught of criticism.
The decision likely didn’t go over well with fans, especially with the several controversial comments Donald Trump made throughout his campaign — including a comment about people of Haitian descent eating “cats and dogs.“Rick Ross and Soulja Boy were also in attendance, offering performances of their own. Not long after, a clip of Snoop Dogg began circulating where he referred to Black artists who performed at Trump’s 2016 Inauguration as “Uncle Toms.” However, it looks like he’s changed his tune.
Snoop Dogg Doesn’t Identify As Republican Or Democrat, He Says
A few months back Snoop Dogg revealed that he wasn’t a part of the Republican or Democratic parties, just the “gangsta party.” According to Snoop Dogg, he doesn’t “believe in separating people,” for the sake of politics. “I’m not looking for separation…I’m not looking for division…I’m looking for people to come together. The Doggystyle rapper noted that he removed himself from the scene during election time, and revealed it was a calculated move on his part.
“When all of the hoopla was going on about voting, notice I was nowhere to be seen. I wanted it to be like that, ’cause I don’t believe in separating people, I believe in bringing us together.” Snoop Dogg added, “I don’t represent the Democratic Party or the Republican Party, I represent the Gangsta Party.” Back in January, Snoop Dogg explained why he has nothing but “love and respect” for Donald Trump. The rapper claims that Trump was behind the prison release of a former Death Row colleague.
