Since the release of the Lifetime docuseries, Surviving R. Kelly, the ‘Bump and Grind’ singer has been in the limelight due to his abusive sexual allegations which reportedly took place within his recording studio. R. Kelly is now pleading with a judge to maintain access to his studio in Chicago, after having it investigated because of claims that people may be living inside.  R. Kelly’s attorney Stephen Peck has claimed that the singer has not used the studio since January.

Prior to this, R. Kelly had limited access to his studio after inspectors found the house to be violating building code regulations. His space contained a “sex dungeon” that Kelly consistently denied even existed, and is “too potentially dangerous to allow the tenant to use the building at all.”

On Thursday, R. Kelly filed a two-page affidavit in which he stated, “I have never been creative or worked between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.”

City attorneys disagree and believe that the studio has been used illegally as a living space, evidence revealing that assaults have taken place there.

Kelly is asking for late-night access, claiming that he is most creative between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Kelly and Peck have been working to get the studio repaired ever since inspectors deemed it dangerous.

It doesn’t look like R. Kelly will get his wish anytime soon.
