T-Pain expressed interest in performing an NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2024 following the news that Kendrick Lamar would be the championship game’s latest performer. Social media is buzzing about the two-time Grammy winner as the top choice for the next performance after his Coachella 2025 set went viral over the weekend. Complex shared a tweet with a clip from his performance that kickstarted the next Super Bowl performer agenda.

“Day 1 of pushing our T-Pain for the next Super Bowl agenda,” tweeted Complex on Monday afternoon (April 14). In the clip, Teddy P busts out his awesome dance moves while jamming to “2 Step” on stage. The tweet received mixed comments on T-Pain’s Super Bowl chances.

The comments varied from expressions of excitement to suggestions of other superstar names with better odds to perform at Super Bowl LX. “I fully support this,” tweeted a user on X, while another referenced Jay-Z, commenting, “It’s the least Jay could do after ‘DOA.’” Tweeting a few of the “Bartender” hitmaker’s resume, another user added, “@TPAIN plz!!! He’s definitely got good song choices. And can sing. Without all the auto-tune. Still the best. Plz make it happen!!!”

Several other entertainers suggested alongside T-Pain included Chris Brown and Pitbull. “He is cool, but nobody topping Pitbull for the next Superbowl,” a fan tweeted. Suggesting Breezy, another fan commented, “This will be good, but Chris Brown deserves next.”

Fans would pitch different ideas for a T-Pain Halftime Show performance in the Complex comments. “T-Pain halftime show but make it underground warehouse rave energy,” tweeted an X user. “I’ll bring the smoke machines and chaos.” Suggesting a T-Pain and friends show, a fan commented, “T-Pain with a couple guest from the 2000s would go crazy.”

In February 2025, T-Pain manifested the opportunity on social media by posting a fan-made image of himself at Super Bowl LVIII. The caption was simple, but bold: “I got the hits @nfl.” That confidence mirrors the energy he brought during a recent appearance on the Night Cap Live Show with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco, where he didn’t hesitate when asked about a potential halftime performance. “Absolutely,” he replied. “Why wouldn’t I do that?”

He was in New Orleans during Super Bowl weekend, headlining the “House of Verizon” experience. Once again, he reminded fans why he’s more than a pioneer of Auto-Tune—he’s a dynamic performer who knows how to command a crowd.

With nearly two decades of influence, a catalog filled with chart-toppers, and a reputation for electrifying live shows, T-Pain presents a compelling case for the NFL. At Day 1 of Coachella, backed by a live band and dancers, he delivered a high-energy set that blended his signature hits with creative covers over a dystopian theme to captivate the crowd. His setlist includes classics such as “I’m Sprung,” “Can’t Believe It,” and “Up Down,” featuring a blend of Kendrick Lamar’s “TV Off.”

The Tallahassee native’s Coachella set received acclaimed reviews in SFGate, Vanity Fair, and Billboard. T-Pain acknowledged that it took him 20 years to perform on a Coachella stage. “It took me 20 years to get on this stage, and I’m happy I f*cking kept at it,” he told the fans during his Coachella set.

Although he made a song that attacked T-Pain’s success in Hip-Hop with auto-tune, Jay-Z could help T-Pain realize his Super Bowl dreams as one of the Super Bowl board members. Jay-Z plays a pivotal role in choosing Super Bowl halftime performers through Roc Nation’s partnership with the NFL, established in 2019.

As executive producer, Jigga collaborates with league officials to select artists who represent cultural relevance and global appeal. Roc Nation considers factors like timing and audience impact, which helped secure Rihanna’s 2023 show.

Jay-Z’s industry influence has shifted the halftime show toward more meaningful performances. While the NFL has final approval, Jay-Z curates each act to ensure it resonates beyond sports and reflects the show’s evolving significance. After Kendrick Lamar was announced as the performer for the 2025 Halftime Show, Jay-Z faced backlash for selecting Lamar over the expected choice, New Orleans superstar Lil Wayne.

The 2025-2026 NFL season begins in August, with Halftime Show headliner announcements occurring in September. Neither Jay-Z nor the NFL has ever responded to T-Pain’s Super Bowl possibilities.
