Tina Knowles is beaming with pride after Beyoncé’s major wins at the 2025 Grammy Awards. In a sneak peek from today’s episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, she shared just how shocked and excited she was when her daughter took home trophies for Best Country Album and Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter.
“I was at her house and I was there to help [her] and Blue [Ivy Carter] get ready,” Knowles recalled. “I was just not expecting it — I was really, really shocked.” Even Beyoncé seemed taken aback when she won Best Country Album.
Knowles, who was watching the Grammy moment unfold with her grandchildren Rumi and Sir, said, “I was sitting there with my granddaughter Rumi and my grandson Sir and for a second, we were just sitting there and then when she did this,” she said, mimicking Beyoncé’s stunned reaction. “I said, ‘Oh, it’s real!’ I couldn’t believe it.”
She admitted she was especially surprised by this years Grammy win because “there’s been so many times that I thought that would happen and it didn’t.” While she didn’t mention any specific awards, this marked Beyoncé’s first Album of the Year win despite multiple nominations. The Best Country Album victory was also unexpected, given that Cowboy Carter was completely shut out of the CMA Awards.
Knowles also had a laugh recalling Blue Ivy’s quick reaction when her mom won. “It was funny because then they show Blue… and Beyoncé is sitting like this and Blue is saying ‘get up,’” she said as the audience laughed. “They call her the manager. She’s a bossy little Capricorn like her grandma.”
