Ye, formerly Kanye West, has unexpectedly taken on a new role as producer for The Game’s upcoming album, turning his latest artistic endeavor into a full-fledged project. On Monday night, West announced his departure from X—formerly Twitter—before unveiling his newest work on Instagram: a three-part track titled “Tina,” featuring himself, The Game, and Jim Jones.
West and The Game teased the track after recording it, making an unexpected move by sliding into Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles’ DMs. Despite the name, the song has no apparent connection to her. Instead, it reimagines Tina Turner’s iconic hit “What’s Love Got to Do with It” and is set to appear on The Game’s forthcoming album Documentary 3, slated for release later this year.
For the song’s reveal, the trio donned ski masks and safety vests, delivering a performance as intense as the track itself. Their masked presence added to the mystique, allowing the lyrics to take center stage. A member of West’s team narrated the creative process behind “Tina,” emphasizing how everything unfolded organically—including their spontaneous message to Mama Tina.
Jim Jones, currently in town working on his own album, found himself pulled into the collaboration, seamlessly joining West and The Game’s creative whirlwind.
The Game and Ye have been spending a lot of time together recently. The mogul gifted Chuck his two chrome Maybachs as a birthday gift, which Game shared on social media last month. Ye gave the rap star the vehicles after making headlines in it at the Grammy Awards with his wife, Bianca Censori.
Jim Jones and Ye were previously spotted in Japan, with West rocking the signature Dipset chain. The meetup occurred during a civil rivalry between Jones and Dipset frontman Cam’Ron. The crewmembers would exchange disses after Cam’Ron spoke on past beef with 50 Cent recently on the rap star-turned-podcasters show.
