Ye, formerly Kanye West, has spent the past decade entangled in controversy, making one divisive move after another. His public perception shifted dramatically in 2016 when he endorsed Donald Trump during the presidential election. Though he expressed admiration for Trump at the time, his actions in the years since have complicated that stance.
Recently, West claimed he had been invited to Trump’s latest inauguration but declined because he refused to meet certain conditions. During a Grammy after-party, he previewed an episode of the Respectfully Justin podcast, where he discussed the alleged invitation.
According to TMZ, Ye played clips from the episode, including one in which he said Trump requested a public apology for his antisemitic remarks before allowing him to attend. West refused.
“I was gonna go to the inauguration. Until [I was told] I had to write another apology saying yeah, that I wasn’t… what’s the word?” he said. The word, of course, was “antisemitic.”
West’s reluctance to apologize may confuse some fans, given that he issued a public apology in 2023. At the time, he wrote on Instagram, “I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any unintended outburst caused by my words or actions. It was not my intention to offend or demean, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused.”
The post was deleted soon after.
Despite the political controversy, Ye’s Grammy appearance drew even more attention. He arrived on the red carpet with his wife, Bianca Censori, who wore a sheer dress with nothing underneath.
Rumors quickly spread that the couple had been thrown out of the ceremony. However, TMZ later clarified that no such incident took place. Still, their appearance sparked widespread criticism, adding yet another layer to West’s ever-growing list of headline-making moments.
