After voicing admiration for Hitler and aligning himself with Nazi ideology during a volatile antisemitic outburst online last week, Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) has abruptly reversed course, disavowing those far-right affiliations. Addressing his huge X following this past Wednesday, February 19, Ye posted: After further reflection I’ve come to the realization that I’m not a Nazi.” Though he kept the details to himself, it seems Adam Sandler may have played a role in his change of heart.
During SNL’s 50th anniversary on Saturday, the Jewish actor and comedian appeared to allude to Kanye while weaving the rapper into a musical homage to the show’s past. “50 years of finding out your favorite musician is antisemitic,” he humorously said. Ye seemingly enjoyed the shoutout and took to X, saying, “Adam Sandler Thank you for the love.”
Ye’s Swastika T-Shirts and Anti-Semitic Tirade Lead to Shopify Shutdown
Although Ye insists he has distanced himself from Nazi ideology, he recently peddled T-shirts emblazoned with a swastika and unleashed a multi-day tirade targeting the Jewish community.
Amid his torrent of posts, the Chicago artist declared himself a “racist,” a “Nazi,” and professed his “love” for Hitler. “IM NEVER APOLOGIZING FOR MY JEWISH COMMENTS. I CAN SAY WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANNA SAY FOREVER. WHERES MY FUCKING APOLOGY FOR FREEZING MY ACCOUNTS. SUCK MY DICK. HOWS THAT FOR AN APOLOGY,” he stated, citing his past anti-semitic outbursts. “BE CLEAR YOU JEWISH N-GGAS DONT RUN ME NO MORE. THIS IS A FREE COUNTRY AND THIS IS MY FREE OPINION. YOU ABORT BLACK CHILDREN FOR STEM CELLS. ABORTION IS MURDER AND ITS PUSHED ONTO THE BLACK AND LATINO COMMUNITIES.”
Ye’s fiery tirade took a sharper turn as he invoked Elon Musk’s alleged Nazi gesture during President Trump’s swearing-in ceremony. “ELON STOLE MY NAZI SWAG AT THE INAUGURATION. YOOOO MY GUY. GET YOUR OWN THIRD RALE,” he stated. Nonetheless, the hip-hop icon’s move to market T-shirts bearing swastikas prompted Shopify to take down his Yeezy storefront.
