Roxanne Shanté made a huge dent in the world of hip hop in 1984 after releasing a response record to UTFO’s “Roxanne, Roxanne” titled “Roxanne’s Revenge.”
At the age of 16, she became the first mainstream female MC, and rose to the top very quickly at a young age.
Her story has recently become a biopic on Netflix called Roxanne, Roxanne which breaks down her story including the struggles with her mother, relationships, and even finding Nas.
