The Wrap Up with L’Orèal Luchi, keeping you informed on everything that happened in hip hop culture this week:

Ashanti:

Ashanti broke her silence with us first regarding the Irv Gotti drama. She stopped by EBRO in the AM to discuss why she declined to be in Irv Gotti’s murder Inc documentary. Ashanti said, “once someone goes after you and attacks you, at some point, you have to protect yourself.” She also addressed Irv’s claims that they slept together. Watch the entire conversation right now on the BRAND NEW Hot 97 app.

DaBaby:

DaBaby defends his controversial lyrics in his song “Boogeyman,” where he claims he slept with Megan Thee Stallion a day before Tory Lanez allegedly shot her. DaBaby said he recorded the song way before it dropped. Megan seemingly addressed DaBaby’s song at a concert over the summer, where she said she could do what she wanted with her body.

During the interview with EBRO in the AM, DaBaby said, “Don’t turn the women’s empowerment sh*t on me because of what you got going on with buddy. It’s no secret after DaBaby brought Tory Lanez out for rolling loud last year, Megan wasn’t feeling DaBaby. We’ll see how everything plays out.

Tory Lanez:

Tory Lanez is on a little timeout. His alleged altercation with August Alsina a few weeks ago has him on house arrest until his trial with Megan Thee Stallion starts next month. Tory faced no charges in the August Alsina case, and after the ordeal, Tory told TMZ he’s a Black man “fighting the world.” He also said the allegations regarding August aren’t true. Tory faces assault and weapons charges concerning Megan Thee Stallion’s injuries from the 2020 shooting. Tory pleaded not guilty, and the trial starts on November 28.

Kanye West:

After Kanye’s latest Amit Semitic comments, he’s getting dropped from brands left and right. JP Morgan Chase bank was one of the first companies to part ways with him. Kanye also lost his billionaire status after lucrative partnerships with Balenciaga, GAP, Foot Locker, TJ Max, Adidas, the CAA, and Vogue cut ties.

Kanye responded to brands dropping him with a meme on IG. His Donda Academy was shut down, but hours later (after recording the show), the school was reopened.

Drake x 21 Savage:

We should be jamming to Drake and 21 Savage’s joint project, Her Loss, right now, but it got pushed back after OVO 40, mixing and mastering the project, got COVID. The project will arrive on November 4.
