Today marks the 18 year anniversary since the horrible terrorist attacks that took place in New York City and Washington D.C.
On September 11th, 2001, two planes struck the Twin Towers at The World Trade Center, essentially knocking them down, while another plane hit the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. According to reports, 2,977 people were killed and thousands more were injured with many of them developing 9/11 health-related issues including cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
Today, many people are coming together, as they do every year to honor and remember the first responders, victims, survivors, and volunteers who risked their lives to save others. Their names are read at the memorial site where the Twin Towers used to stand.
Many celebrities have taken to their social media accounts to pay their respects as well. See post below.
