Rayshard Brooks will be laid to rest today.
Brooks’ funeral will be held in the same state where his life was taken away at the hands of two cops. The service will be at Atlanta’s historic Ebenezer Baptist Church. The private service will be from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter, the Rev. Bernice A. King, will speak at the funeral.
The Brooks family is “devastated,” CNN reports.
“They want to lay their loved one to rest. They’re not interested in any of the fanfare. They just want him to be laid to rest.”
Brooks’ wife, Tomika Miller, says her husband’s murder wasn’t “justified.”
“Because he was shot and he wasn’t armed. He wasn’t dangerous. It was murder. That was not justified,” she said. “Because he was shot and he wasn’t armed. He wasn’t dangerous.”
Brooks is survived by his wife of eight years, Tomika Miller, and four children.
