With the anticipation building for Cardi B’s sophomore album, it’s no wonder she’s feeling a touch of anxiety herself.

In true form, fans shared their thoughts on the “Bodak Yellow” rapper’s pending album release, advising her to stick to her signature style rather than experimenting.

However, not all observers shared the same sentiment. Notably, Missy Elliott expressed her belief that now is the perfect time for Cardi to shake things up.

“Absolutely yes it’s the time to experiment take it from someone who experimented and many others which allowed them to NOT be BOXED in to one sound and style… I can name tons who each of there albums sounded nothing like the one before,” she wrote taking to X/Twitter.

Later chiming in on the conversation, Bardi admitted to feeling “nervous” about the reception from listeners but maintained she’s content with the creative direction she’s headed.

“Yeup!!! I’m a little nervous… but I don’t care! I’m liking doing things that my ears want to listen to and reflecting the moods I been in. It feels good,” she wrote, in response to Missy.

Earlier this year, Cardi B revealed that her new album was on the horizon. “I’ve got no choice because I’m dropping my album this year, so stay tuned for the announcement,” she said in a clip, shared to her Instagram stories. The video also captures the rapper scrolling through hundreds of songs she’s worked on over the past few years.

In the weeks since, she’s dropped a series of singles including “Like What (Freestyle,” “Enough (Miami),” and “Puntería,” in collaboration with Shakira.

On the flip side, Missy Elliott — recently taking to social media — announced she’s hitting the road for her first-ever headlining tour, the Out of This World Tour. Joining her for the cosmic journey are none other than her longtime collaborators Busta RhymesTimbaland, and Ciara.

Beginning July 4 in Vancouver, the 24 city tour will kickoff in Vancouver before making stops in cities like Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, New York and Toronto before closing things out on August 22 in Rosemont, Illinois.
