Cardi B released her Grammy-winning debut album, Invasion of Privacy, in 2018 to critically acclaimed reviews, and fans immediately awaited a sequel.

On Tuesday (May 13), the 31-year-old entertainer shared that she might not be releasing a new album in 2024 after all, despite promises and the release of new music in March. The revelation stems from a tense exchange with fans on X.

A fan named Ty shared a tweet poking fun at Cardi’s past promises of her oft-delayed album, highlighting her previous statements about releasing new music and her album. Mocking Cardi, the fan tweeted, “I’m so excited to put out new music.” “I can’t wait to drop my album.” “Wait until I drop this song.” “Album coming soon.”

Cardi B surprisingly replied to the user’s tweet with a now-deleted response, which said, “No it’s just annoying this means a lot to me and it’s always a complain and crying wit this pussy ass fanbase.”

Ty responded to Carid’ reply with, “See, your problem is that you want to create a cult, and I’m just too real for that,”

In the exchange, Cardi wrote, “No the problem is that you was even complaining when I was dropping music as well always got some shit to say wit your 3 neck rolls.”

Following other fans’ comments, Cardi B also responded to Ty regarding her critiques with, ““Girl shut up you not here for nobody but to boost your ego cause in real life you overlooked,” Cardi responded. “Who you here for? For me? You the same bitch that complains for every single thing I do EACH THING So you can’t be here for me but your own ego. You can’t gaslight me.”

After that, Cardi would heed another fan’s advice to stop using social media and announce no new album this year.  “Exactly and I tell myself this all the time,” wrote Cardi. “And I hate that I fall back and start interacting again and it bites me in the ass. Anyway NO album this year I don’t care I’m relaxing this year ..Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer.”

Cardi has been very public about the pressures of making her sophomore album, currently untitled. While she has received support from fans and her husband Offset, who released his sophomore album this year, she has shared that the expectations have been overwhelming in recent interviews.

Since her debut album, Cardi has maintained her relevancy with hit-making collaborations with others such as GloRilla, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, and more. Cardi’s debut album features Bad Bunny, SZA, Kehlani, Chance The Rapper, 21 Savage, and J Balvin. Her collaboration with Maroon 5, “Girls Like You,” achieved over a billion streams on Spotify this month.

Cardi has become a multi-millionaire outside of the hip-hop industry through various endorsements and business ventures. She ranks among the top earners as a content creator on OnlyFans.
