Chlöe Bailey recently shared her deep admiration for Kendrick Lamar during an Instagram Live session on Wednesday, November 27.

The “Treat Me” singer revealed her excitement over Lamar’s surprise sixth studio album, GNX, which dropped on November 22. Speaking candidly with her followers, she admitted to being “convinced” at one point that she and the Compton rapper were destined to be together.

“I’ve had it on repeat since it came out,” Chlöe said enthusiastically, reflecting on the project’s impact.

The 12-track album features collaborations with SZA, Roddy Ricch, AzChike, and other California-based artists. Among her favorite songs are the introspective “Man in the Garden,” the soulful “Luther,” which samples Luther Vandross, and the haunting “TV Off.”

Chlöe emphasized that her admiration for Lamar isn’t a recent development. “About eight years ago, I went through a whole Kendrick phase,” she shared. “I’ve had phases, right? I had a Frank Ocean phase, an FKA twigs phase, a Tune-Yards phase—and a Kendrick Lamar phase. During that time, I was convinced I was going to end up with him.”

She added, “I’ve been a die-hard Kendrick fan from day one. I’m glad more people are discovering his brilliance, but I’ve been here all along.”

While Lamar remains committed to his fiancée Whitney Alford, with whom he shares two children, Uzi and Enoch, a musical collaboration with Chlöe isn’t beyond the realm of possibility. Lamar has a history of teaming up with Chlöe’s mentor and Parkwood Entertainment founder, Beyoncé, on tracks like “Freedom” and “AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM.”

Chlöe, too, is no stranger to collaborations. In August, she released her sophomore album, Trouble in Paradise, a 16-track collection featuring fan-favorite songs like “FYS” and “Boy Bye.” The album included guest appearances from her sister Halle Bailey, Ty Dolla Sign, Jeremih, and others, further solidifying her presence in contemporary R&B.

Chlöe’s candid appreciation for Kendrick Lamar underscores the enduring influence of his artistry, while her own growing discography continues to carve her path in the music world. Whether as a fan or an artist, her connection to Lamar’s work speaks to the universal appeal of his storytelling and innovation.
