Frank Ocean‘s mom beams with pride as her son hits a new career high note.
Re-posting a snippet of “Apple Music’s 100 Best Albums” roundup, where Frank’s 2016 album Blonde claimed the number 5 spot, she wrote:
“This child sure knows how to make his momma proud!” she began gushing over her son. “I first said wow son, you are among the greats but quickly retracted and said “no, you are a GREAT!” she added.
“Here’s to my Frankie!!” she closed out the caption, accompanied by a series of champagne and heart emojis and the hashtag #blonde.

While opinions remain divided on the roundup, Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, reflecting on the list during a special roundtable, described the project as the perfect canvas.
“It is music put on canvas. I look at the canvas through different light at different times of the day, depending on how I feel. And I see strokes of color I never saw before or even knew existed,” said Lowe.
He added: “There’s so many layers and thoughts and emotions and hooks and ideas that all somehow make sense differently every single time.”
At the top of the list is the sole solo album by singer-songwriter and rapper Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, released in 1998. Upon learning the news, Hill told Apple Music, “This is my award, but it’s a rich, deep narrative, and involves so many people, and so much sacrifice, and so much time, and so much collective love.”
Blonde, which marked the multifaceted artist’s first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, reached a new height on Billboard’s Top Streaming Albums chart earlier this month, rising to No. 39. This achievement represents his inaugural top 40 entry, Forbes reported at the time.
Other albums rounding out the top ten include Beyoncé’s Lemonade (2016), Nirvana’s Nevermind (1991), Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black (2006), Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city (2012), and Michael Jackson’s Thriller (1982), among others.
