Despite their complex history, Kanye West has offered Drake some words of encouragement.

In a recent conversation with Justin LaBoy, which debuted at a Grammys afterparty on Sunday (February 2), the rapper was asked about his stance on the infamous 2024 rap feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Sharing his perspective on the battle, he jokingly remarked, “I was like, ‘Man, you killed my nemesis. Where’s the movies if it ain’t no Drake?’” “Or at least he took him down for a little bit. Maybe it’s like in supehero films where characters like Wolverine or something just goes away for a couple films.”

When asked if K.Dot “killed” the Toronto legend, he replied, “Yeah, for now. You can’t ever count out Steph Curry. That man might get 200 points in one song.” He continued, “Drake added something to the algorithm. He advanced it, Future advanced it and now Kendrick is advancing the frequency […] If you don’t really learn, as a professional rapper [in] a sport, what Kendrick is doing, you might be wiped out.”

Kanye’s Drake and J. Cole jabs on “like that” remix

Nonetheless, Kanye didn’t shy away from taking a stance while the Kendrick-Drake feud was going on. Shortly after the first diss, “Like That,” by Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar, was released, Ye hopped on the remix, taking jabs at Drizzy and even J. Cole. He raps on the song, “Where’s Lucian? Serve your master, n-gga / You caught a little bag for your masters, didn’t ya? / Lifetime deal, I feel bad for n-ggas / Y’all so outta sight, outta mind / I can’t even think of a Drake line / Play J. Cole, get the pussy dry.”

Shortly after the song dropped, Ye voiced his criticism of Drake with Justin Laboy. As he discussed Drizzy’s diss track “Push-Ups,” he stated, “Every bar that Drake said means nothing anymore. Drop and give me — I ain’t nobody gonna drop and do shit. Your raps don’t mean shit, n-gga.” He also alleged the rapper had previously schemed with the Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge to help boost his streams. He comically referred to Grainge as Drake’s “Rich Babby Daddy.”
