LeBron James has once again backed Kendrick Lamar, seemingly as a reply to Drake’s recent jab. On Wednesday (February 5), LeBron shared excitement for Kendrick’s upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance by posting a highlight from his 2022 appearance during Dr. Dre’s headline set. “He gone kill that [poo emoji]!!!! Can’t wait *Bart Scott voice,” in reference to the ex-NFL athlete and sports analyst.

LeBron, once tight with Drake before their fallout sparked by last year’s feud with Kendrick, has recently found himself the target of some pointed remarks from the rapper. At the kickoff of his Anita Max Win Tour in Australia earlier this week, Drake slyly altered the lyrics of “Nonstop” to throw a dig at the NBA legend. In the 2018 release, Drizzy paid tribute to LeBron with the line, “How I go from 6 to 23 like I’m LeBron?” However, at his Perth concert, he unleashed, “How do I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron, man?”
Drake’s “Fighting Irish Freestyle” Sparks Tension, But LeBron’s Gesture Speaks Volumes
Earlier, Drake seemed to voice his frustrations with LeBron—and possibly other figures like NBA star DeMar DeRozan—on his track “Fighting Irish Freestyle.” The song, named after LeBron’s high school team, appeared to take aim at the four-time NBA champion’s backing of Kendrick and his presence at the Pop Out concert last summer. He spits, “The world fell in love with the gimmicks, even my brothers got tickets / Seemed like they loved every minute / Just know this shit is personal to us, and it wasn’t just business.”
LeBron James has not spoken publicly about the track, but he seemed to reach out to Drake after attending Kendrick’s previously mentioned concert. Last August, the NBA star posted a photo on his Instagram Story wearing The Boy’s Nike Air Force Ones, which feature “Love you forever” inscribed on them, along with an infinity symbol emoji.
