On Wednesday, Nov. 27, Hercy Miller, the son of hip-hop legend Master P, was arrested for allegedly stealing refrigerators from the campus of Southern Utah University, PEOPLE reported.
Law enforcement accused Miller, Brock Felder, and Peter Dadson Jr. of the crime. They were all taken into custody on one count of theft. All three players are currently on the roster of the Southern Utah University, Thunderbirds basketball team.
According to police records, the men stole two refrigerators valued at $1,500 each. The appliances were located at the loading dock of the Cedar City, Utah school’s campus bookstore.
KSL News Radio reported that the alleged crime was captured on a surveillance camera. Video footage shows the athletes loading the appliances into their vehicles from a loading dock on school property.
Shortly thereafter, law enforcement claimed to see refrigerators inside the apartment of two of the men. The other was inside the garage of the third suspect.
According to law enforcement, Miller and Dadson Jr. said they thought that the refrigerators were being thrown away. The appliances were on the loading dock for “almost a month.”
Although Felder admitted to participating in the theft, he said that one of the other suspects devised the scheme.
After being booked at Iron County Jail, all the suspects were released on Thursday, Nov. 28.
Rob Jeter, the head coach of the team, said the incident was a total misunderstanding. He also noted that “the university is working to get this thing resolved quickly.”
Following his transfer from Louisville last season, Miller is in his first year at Southern Utah University. A 6-foot 3-inch swingman, Miller is averaging 8.8 points per game.
The officials from Southern Utah University have not yet commented on the student’s arrests. Also, the status of the player’s eligibility is still unknown.
