Nicki Minaj’s New Vegan Sneaker Brand Earns Praise From PETA

Nicki Minaj has found herself on the receiving end of praise from PETA, after the launch of her animal-friendly sneaker line.

Taking to socials on Tuesday (April 16), the animal rights nonprofit organization expressed their excitement over the Pink Friday 2 rapper’s new line of vegan sneakers, applauding the decision to spare cows and other animals by not using leather.

They also provided a breakdown of the materials used in Nicki’s products, such as “recycled bottles, recycled nylon & brass, cork, bamboo, & bio leather.”

“We’re excited to see that @nickiminaj’s new line of #vegan sneakers spared cows & other animals by not using leather 👏,” PETA wrote via Instagram.

We previously reported that Nicki Minaj recently unveiled her latest business venture, a sneaker collection, in partnership with LØCI.

On Friday (March 29), the urban-lux vegan sneaker and apparel company — despite their best efforts to keep it hush-hush — announced they were unable contain the excitement any longer — it was time to spill the beans on their latest collaboration: with none other than the “queen of rap herself.”

“We’ve been struggling to keep this one quiet… [eyes emoji],” they exclaimed, on X/Twitter. “Finally, we can announce a partnership between LØCI and the queen of rap herself!”

Building on the excitement, over on Instagram, Barbz, overflowing with enthusiasm explained what an “absolute dream come true,” it’s been to witness her first collection come to life. 

“4/12 = 11 new pairs of my OWN sneaker. 11 completely different designs for you to choose from. An absolute dream come true. I can’t WAIT for you guys to see my 1st collection!!!! Link in bio to SIGN UP NOW!!!!! [pink heart emoji],” she wrote in the caption, teasing the collection’s release date on April 12.

“Thank you to my team for helping me make this dream come to fruition. This isn’t a sponsorship. I’m an owner & partner [praying hands, grinning face with sweat emojis] & we will be showing you the first complete collection on 4/12. Love you BARBZ. THANK YOU. [heart hands, praying heands, pink heart, pink bow emojis],” she added, underscoring her significant role as an owner in the venture.

Available in styles for both women and men, the sneaker collection features a range of vibrant color combinations like fuchsia/cream/pink, metallic navy/fuchsia/gold, and white/blue/white, with prices ranging from $185 to $200.
