Ye (formally known as Kanye West) finds himself embroiled in yet another controversy, this time sparked by the release of his latest track, “Lonely Roads Still Go To Sunshine.” Collaborating with Diddy and his daughter North, the song has reignited the simmering discord between Ye and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.

Over the weekend, the rap mogul shared a snippet of the track, which he later deleted from social media. The song marks the first musical contribution from Diddy since his high-profile legal troubles involving sex trafficking and racketeering charges last September. The opening of the track features a poignant phone call between Ye and Diddy, who expresses heartfelt gratitude for the mogul’s support of his children during his incarceration.

Diddy’s voice is heard saying, “I just want to thank you so much for just taking care of my kids, man. Ain’t nobody reached out to them, ain’t nobody called.” To which West responds, “Absolutely. I love you so much, man. You raised me, even when I ain’t know you, know what I’m saying?” In addition to Diddy, the song showcases guest appearances from 11-year-old North, Diddy’s son Christian “King” Combs, and Jasmine Williams, an emerging artist within Kanye’s Yeezy label. The track concludes with a beat switch that pays homage to Diddy’s signature style, evoking memories of Biggie’s classic “My Downfall.”

ye and Kim: Trademarks, Parenting, and Tensions

The release has reignited tensions between Ye and Kardashian, following their contentious divorce finalized in 2022. Ye took to X (formerly Twitter) to share screenshots of a heated exchange with Kardashian, centered around their daughter and the trademark of her name. In one message, he declares, “I’m never speaking with you again,” in relation to the ongoing trademark dispute.

Kardashian responded, clarifying her position: “I asked you at the time if I can trademark her name. You said yes. When she’s 18 it goes to her. So stop. I sent paperwork over so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song to protect her.” She emphasizes their prior agreement about trademarking their children’s names to prevent any external claims. In a fiery rebuttal, Ye stated, “Amend it or I’m going to war. And neither of us will recover from the public fallout. You’re going to have to kill me.” This marked a dramatic escalation in their ongoing disputes over parenting and public representation.

Further compounding the situation, Ye accused Kardashian of obstructing his parental rights, asserting, “I DONT WANT TO JUST ‘SEE’ MY KIDS. I NEED TO RAISE THEM.” He expressed frustration over feeling sidelined in decisions about their children’s education and social lives. In an alarming twist, the rapper claimed that the Kardashian family, along with entities such as Disney and Hulu, are conspiring to manipulate their children for broader agendas, asserting, “ALL THESE RIGHTS HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM ME BY THE KARDASHIAN MOB.” He characterized his current situation with his children as “LIKE VISITATION.”
