It looks like we may have reacted a bit too soon as a society to one of Dove’s latest ads.
Over the weekend, an image was released on the company’s Facebook page which depicts an African-american woman taking off her shirt, and when it’s off an image of a Caucasian appeared.
Dove apologized for offending many of their consumers on their Twitter page, but one thing.
An image we recently posted on Facebook missed the mark in representing women of color thoughtfully. We deeply regret the offense it caused.

There’s a video that showed the full thing, and did give full context to the full ad.
By that time, many reacted to the ad itself.
You can do better than “missed the mark.” Flip + diminishing. Deepens your offense. You do good work. Have been for years. Do better here.

Okay, Dove…
One racist ad makes you suspect.
Two racist ads makes you kinda guilty. pic.twitter.com/hAwNCN84h2— Keith Boykin (@keithboykin) October 8, 2017
Do you think they made a bad decision and were racially insensitive or did we react too soon?
