For the past day, Pepsi has been receiving tons of backlash following the release of a controversial ad which many believed made light of the Black Lives Matter protests.
The negative response was heard by the company and they made a decision to pull the ad not even 24 hours after it was released.
Their statement apologizes for the mixup, and apologized to Kendall Jenner as well.
“Pepsi was trying to project a global a message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
Part of their “short film” showed Jenner as she began a photoshoot before a massive protest got her attention. She grabbed a Pepsi can and handed it to an officer who was patrolling the event.
Recently one of Martin Luther King’s daughter’s Bernice commented on the ad.
