Last week, we reported a story about a 10-year-old girl in Florida who fatally shot her mother’s friend after her mother gave her the gun. In the latest report, the little girl is facing a second-degree murder charge. A news source reports the child is in custody at the Orange County Juvenile Justice Center.
Online users spoke out online. One person said, “So a 10-year-old girl in Florida shot dead a woman who was arguing with her Mom.” The message continues,
“The problem here isn’t so much the child; it’s the fact that she had access to a gun. So much for “It’s not the guns. Sadly, it is the guns.” On the flip side, another person online wrote, “So it’s not a gun problem, it’s a parenting and person problem.”

Over the Memorial Day holiday, a mother named Lakrisha Isaac, 31, walked up to her neighbor, 41-year-old Lashun Rodgers, outside an apartment complex and slapped her. The report says Isaac was drunk and before the attack, Rodgers was grilling.
Rodgers reportedly defended herself, slapped Isaac back, and they began fighting. At some point, Issac gave her 10-year-old daughter a bag that had a gun inside. Issac’s daughter shot Rodgers twice.
Isaac, was arrested on charges of manslaughter by culpable negligence, child neglect, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and aggravated assault with a firearm. She remains in jail without bond.
Rodgers’ (whose nickname Bones) best friend, Stacey Johnson, said to the outlet, “Bones will give you the shoes and the shirt off her back, literally. I’ve seen her do it. And she kept you laughing. Her humor … Oh my God, her spirit was awesome.” Rodgers’ cousin, Amber Dozier, said her cousin wasn’t a violent person, “It’s just so sad that she lost her life to this senseless situation.”
