Back in 2008 and going into the next year, Chris Brown and Rihanna were in the middle of a highly publicized relationship.
The two were in their late teens, and entering their primes as performers and artists. Then an unfortunately incident nearly derailed both of their careers.
At about 3 a.m. EST at February 8, 2009, Brown and Rihanna had an argument in the car in Los Angeles which turned violent. RiRi was hospitalized with graphic injuries, while Brown ended up later turning himself in and was arrested at the Los Angeles Police Department.
It was later learned that the two had a volatile relationship and that night was when the bubble burst.
As part of his Welcome to My Life documentary he spoke out about the relationship and that infamous night overall.
“I hit her with a closed fist, I punched her. I busted her lip and when I saw it I was in shock, like ‘F***! Why the hell did I hit her like that?’ So, from there she just spit in my face and it enraged me even more. it’s a real-on fight in the car. We’re driving in the street. I’m like ‘Yo, we’re trippin’. What the f***? Like, what are we doing?’ She’s trying to grab for my phone to throw it out the window. So, she grabs my nuts, when she [did] that, I bit her arm. Because I was still trying to drive. It was a petty stupid fight.”
