The 27-year-old rapper made his Billboard debut, won a BET Hip Hop award for Best New Artist, and landed a spot on XXL’s Freshman Class.
During a recent interview with The Guardian, the North Carolina rapper opened up about some of his influences. He gave credit to Lil Wayne, Future, and Kanye West for being one of the greats he studied.
“I studied people like Future, Lil Wayne and Kanye, who came up and consistently progressed,” he said. “I’ve studied all the genius marketers throughout the rap game. I borrow from anybody with something to offer.”
