SZA Decides To Rebuild ‘Lana’ LP From Scratch Amid Leaks

While many successful musicians encounter unauthorized releases of their work at some stage in their careers, SZA has been repeatedly and unfairly targeted by such leaks. The situation escalated to the extent that she felt compelled to issue a warning of potential legal consequences to those responsible for sharing her songs without permission, as she announced on X back in January. Now, hackers have targeted her highly anticipated Lana album.

Initially conceived as the deluxe edition of her second album SOS, Lana evolved into a separate project during its creation process, as SZA disclosed in a now-deleted post on X. She revealed that three tracks from the album had been leaked, prompting her decision to restart the project entirely.

“Y’all leaked three songs from the deluxe. At this point, y’all can keep the throwaways and leaks. I’ll be starting Lana from scratch. Do not ask me about it again,” she expressed in the post that has since been deleted.

In another post, also deleted, SZA mentioned gathering the leaked songs for those who already acquired them, suggesting it as a fair arrangement. Despite dropping a teaser for a song from Lana earlier this month, following the release of “Saturn” months prior, the future of the album now appears uncertain, with its fate hanging in the balance.
