Joaquin Guzman, better known as “El Chapo” to the masses has finally gotten his wish…kind of.
One day after reports revealed that he had been complaining about his treatment in a Mexican prison he got the announcement that he will indeed be leaving there.
Guzman is now being extradited to the United States where he will face trial for his crimes.
According to ABC 7:
A spokeswoman for the Mexican Attorney General said Thursday afternoon that he was “in the air,” but has not confirmed where he is going due to security concerns.
Guzman is wanted on drug trafficking and other charges in Chicago, Brooklyn and several other jurisdictions.
He has been staying at a maximum-security prison in Mexico since his highly publicized capture in 2016 following his famous escape months earlier.
We will give you more information as it becomes available.
