On Saturday (Dec.14), Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation hosted its annual toy drive at the Pfizer Building in Brooklyn. The event lasted from noon until 4 p.m. Children ages 0 to 18 received toys, bikes, electronics, beauty products, and more. The yearly event began in December 2003 and helps “celebrate the December holiday season by distributing toys or meals to youth and families residing in underserved Brooklyn communities,” according to the Foundation’s website.
Prior to this, Jay-Z’s wife and pop superstar donated $100,000 to the University of Houston’s Law Center via her BeyGood Foundation. According to reports, Beyoncé’s gift to her hometown college will provide critical support for the Criminal Justice Clinic, allowing it to hire a full-time director and significantly broaden its services.
Jay-Z Faces Sexually Assault Allegation
On a more sour note, Jay-Z’s rep has taken a major hit after a lawsuit alleging he and Diddy raped a 13-year-old girl surfaced. The Brooklyn-raised mogul vehemently denied the heinous claim and offered a statement via social media. He believes he’s a victim of “blackmail” and the plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, is exploiting the media attention surrounding Diddy.
“What he had calculated was the nature of the allegations, and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No, sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a very public fashion. So, no, I will not give you one red penny!” Jay-Z wrote in a post on Roc Nation’s X account. That said, things have seemingly turned in the father of three’s favor. NBC interviewed the alleged Jane Doe, and she gave various contradictions to her lawsuit, which was filed on Dec.8.
