As the live action version of the Disney classic, ‘The Lion King’ is set to be released this summer, the director, Jon Favreau discusses how he casted Beyonce to play the role of Nala.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Favreau revealed that the power of Beyonce’s performances was the inspiration behind his approach to get Knowles for the role. Favreau also said “The idea was to capture and then convey the actors’ emotions through  their characters in the new animated remake. It should feel like a live-action movie.”

When it comes the role of Nala the director stated “Nala is a very powerful character who’s a warrior and also has a big heart and encapsulates a lot of different archetypes. I wanted the way she was choreographed and with the lions and the fight scenes to have a resonance with the power with which Beyonce choreographs her stage show.”
